- Transmissible and non-communicable diseases
Includes research projects about diseases and illnesses whose etiological agent is alive and transmissible, and the infection can be carried by a vector, environment, or individual, and non-communicable diseases - CNCDs (cardiovascular diseases, neoplasms, chronic respiratory diseases, diabetes, musculoskeletal diseases, among others) are multifactorial diseases and have in common modifiable and non-modifiable behavioral risk factors.
- Environment and Health: Biodiversity and Productive Systems
The line of research brings together researchers and studies related to the conservation, management, and sustainable use of natural resources with a focus on supplies for the pharmaceutical sector, as well as their management and its relationship with health care, the relationship between man and nature, both in natural environments, such as protected areas, and in modified environments, such as agricultural areas. It is also studied the public policies related to environmental topics and the diversity ways in which society interacts with the environment, in a perspective of seeking sustainability in all its aspects, through new approaches and strategies for development.
- Health of indigenous populations
The main goal of this line of research is to describe and analyze the health situation of the indigenous population from the state of Mato Grosso do Sul, approach it from a historical, anthropological, and epidemiological perspective. Emphasizes the analysis of socioeconomic, cultural, and environmental changes on the health-disease process, as well as the directions of public policies related to health care of these peoples.
This line aims to develop research to study and experiment theoretical and methodological conceptions best suited to guide the training of health professionals to develop projects and practices of health education, especially in primary care, aimed at empowering people, families, and communities in favor of changes for a healthier and quality life. The studies focus on curricular innovations, for the teaching, learning and impact assessment processes for the incorporation of new technologies, as well as the training and qualification of health professionals and teachers, generating knowledge about the training of students, preceptors and health professionals and organization of their practices, so that they guide and contribute to changes in training and respond to society´s health demands, aiming at the quality of care provided in the SUS.
- Health of Populations in Situations of Vulnerability
This line of research is dedicated to studying the health needs of populations in situations of vulnerability from a position of facing up to the violations rights that mark the lives of these people (groups deprived of liberty, communities lacking of material resources and/or in a situation of marginalization, exclusion and social insecurity).
